Honoring Native American Heritage Month: Healing Through History

This month, we honor Native American and Alaska Native communities whose traditions remind us that healing is holistic—rooted in community, land, and story.

We celebrate their resilience, their continued fight for health equity, and their leadership in community-based care and cultural preservation.

Meet the Team: Faces Behind the Mission
Karen Park | Events Lead

Karen is a recent UCLA graduate with a B.S. in Anthropology and a minor in Global Health. She is passionate about advancing health equity and social justice by addressing and understanding systemic barriers that perpetuate inequities in access to care. She aspires to pursue a career in public health where she can continue advocating for the well-being of all communities through the belief that health is a fundamental human right.

Mikaela Magtoto | Outreach & Engagement Lead

Mikaela recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned her B.S. in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics with a Minor in Global Health. She currently assists with research on rare pediatric hematopoietic conditions at UCLA and has also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in Los Angeles County.

Passionate about advancing health equity, Mikaela loves collaborating with others who are dedicated to supporting their communities. Although she grew up in Los Angeles, she’s still discovering new hiking trails to explore—and when she’s not outdoors, you can often find her crocheting or trying to recreate her favorite baked treats.
