Every year, the United States honors the contributions made by different communities through month-long celebrations. Today, it’s more important than ever to uplift and celebrate our country’s diversity. Join us in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is an official U.S. month-long observation dedicated to honoring and recognizing the contributions Hispanic Americans have made to American society, history, and culture. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15. It was originally signed into law as National Hispanic Heritage Week by President Lyndon Johnson in 1968, but was expanded to a month-long celebration by Congress in 1988. This was done to include the Independence Day anniversaries of several Latin American nations as a special tribute.
From music superstars like Bad Bunny to civil rights activists like Cesar Chavez, Latinx and Hispanic individuals have made and continue to make landmarks in American culture and history through contributions to food, art, science, activism, and much more. Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by learning more about their identity and historical legacies. See the links below or in the references section to get started. Let’s uplift voices and celebrate Latinx and Hispanic achievements together!
